2011 produced a fantastic turnout with record numbers over 2,400 registered to participate in The Ocean City, MD Island 2 Island Half Marathon / 5K Event. As the name implies the half marathon course will run from the Ocean City’s island inlet to Assateague island state park.POST RACE PARTY HAS BEEN MOVED TO SEACRETS!
The 5k race will have a new start time of 7:45 am as opposed to previous years at 7:30, one hour time limit still applies. The half marathon race will keep its normal 3 hour, 15 minute time limit the same start at 7:00am. Walkers are welcome to both races but remember, anyone who cannot cross finish line within the allotted time will not receive an official time and will be on the course at their own risk. OC Tri-Running Sports reserves the right to cancel or postpone event if climate conditions are at extremes. No refund will be given in this case. Any returned checks will be charged a minimum of $20.00. Any confrontation to staff, medical, volunteers, or other such personnel will not be tolerated and may result in legal actions. The course will be well marked, coned and/or barricaded, but you will still be running on public roads so use extreme caution and pay attention to traffic. It is your responsibility to read and understand all event information that will be given to you. Make sure you understand all safety information. Waivers must be signed before participating in this event.

CHIP TIMING
LIN-MARK Sports of Mantua NJ and Cape Coral FL to time the Ocean City Half and 5K utilizing the B-TAG from ChronoTrack Systems, the worlds most advanced timing system with the disposable chip. All participants will receive their assigned B-Tag affixed to the back of their bib# where it remains for the entire race – no shoe tag needed. Results will be posted for both events at race site and the Lin-Mark website on an ongoing basis the entire race morning.

POST RACE PARTY LOCATION HAS CHANGED. The post race party has been moved from the Francis Scottt Key Family Resort to Seacrets! Seacrets is located on 49th Street inside Ocean City, MD. Please read new bus schedule and Post Race Festivities sections below. Packet pickup location will still be held on Friday at the Francis Scott Key.
BUS SCHEDULE UPDATE!
- Buses will be provided race morning at Seacrets (post race party location) from 5:45 am – 6:45 am to shuttle runners to the starting area in the inlet parking lot.
- For those runners staying at the Francis Scott Key Resort (event host resort) there will be morning shuttle service from 6:00 am – 6:45 am provided by Francis Scott Key Family Resort to race starting area then again after race from Seacrets back to FSK.
- During and after the race buses will be available for half marathon runners. These buses will run from the finish area at Assateague Island state park to Seacrets (post race party), then back to Assateague Island finish area to start the circuit again. They will run every 15 minutes with the first bus leaving finish area once it is full (approximately 8:45 am).
- There is no designated event bus service for 5K runners after the race. 5K runners can take advantage of the city bus service that has stops close to the inlet (5K start/finish area) and Seacrets. Fees for city bus service are: $1.00 per ride or $3.00 per day.The city bus is a very good option for all as it is inexpensive and has multiple stops along Coastal Hwy. The following is a link for more city transportation options.

There are so many things that can go wrong in a race, pushing your way though the agony, looking for that oasis of relief, “The Water Station!” Every year, wonderful people give up their morning to support athletes achieve their goals. Six stations on the course will do their best to give runners the refreshment, encouragement, and boost they need to keep pushing through. These stops are located at:

RACE BIBS
Your race bib MUST be attached to the front of your shirt with the safety pins found in your runners race packet. Your race will be timed by the Chrono track bib sensor timing system, courtesy of Lin-Mark Sports. Your race time will be read by sensors attached to the back of your bib so it is absolutely imperative that you follow these instructions if you want a proper time. There is also a “medical information” label on the back of your bib that needs to be filled out.
RACE GEAR BAG CHECK PROCEDURE
Bag check will be available at the race starting area for HALF MARATHON RUNNERS ONLY. You will be given a gear bag with your race swag at packet pickup. Any small gear or garments you wish to have transported to the finish area must be placed in your gear bag only; NO other bags will be accepted. Runners can check their bag in at the start and it will be waiting for them when they arrive at the finish area. All unclaimed gear bags will be brought to the post race party area so if you cannot finish your race you can claim your gear there. NO gear check for 5K runners!
PHOTOGRAPHY
Race day photos will be available for purchase provided by US Candids.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Medical assistance will be available at the half marathon finish area as well as key locations along the course. If you cannot finish the race please head to the nearest fluid station for assistance. Let them know you cannot finish the race and a volunteer will help you get to the finish area. As soon as you arrive at the finish area you will need to return your chip to a staff member or volunteer. To help aid our medical personnel please fill out any medical history on the back of your race bib. Medical staff can withdraw any participant who they feel is at risk of personal health hazard or safety.
PROHIBITED ITEMS
Bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and pets are not allowed on either course during the race(s). Baby joggers are only permitted on the 5K course. These rules are for your safety as well as others on the course with you. Anyone violating these rules will be immediately escorted off the course and out of the race.
POST RACE FESTIVITIES UPDATE!
The post race party will be held at Seacrets. There will be plenty of food, refreshments, beer, etc.
All snack style items such as bananas, bagels, cookies, water, sodas, etc. will be complimentary. Buffet style food cosisting of pizza and jerk chicken along with two beers will be given to each participant of drinking age. These foods, drinks and snacks are also available for all family members and friends to enjoy for a fee of $10.00 (must be atleast 21 years old), $6.00 for those under 21 years of age.
Along with a Donation from OC Tri-Running Sports a portion of all Post Race Festivity fees will go to Worcester Youth & Family Assoc.

All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, no exceptions. Once we receive your registration and have processed all information all entries are final.
COURSE MAPS
HALF MARATHON COURSE MAP DESCRIPTIONThis year’s half marathon race will start at the OC inlet parking lot. It will wrap around the parking lot, then go around carvnial pier and back to the famous OC boardwalk where the first half mile of the race will take place. This is a fantastic area for runners and spectators. From there runners will take a left turn on N. Division St. under the Boardwalk Arch, across Baltimore and Philadelphia Ave., by the White Marlin fountain, onto and over the rt. 50 bridge. Runners proceed about 1 mile making a left off rt. 50 onto Shantytown La., into the park and ride lot. This is another good spot for spectators. We will have music and fluid station #1 inside the park and ride. After zipping thru the park and ride runners will take a right onto Old Bridge Rd. leading them to US 611 (Stephen Decatur Hwy.), where they will make a left. Shortly after that they will make a right on Whispering Woods Dr. into Whispering Woods neighborhood. Running about 1.25 miles around the neighborhood they will return to 611 making a right where and here they will find fluid station #2. From here runners will make a right onto Sinepuxent Rd. going about 2 miles to a left onto Lewis Rd. This is the approximate half way point where they will have their third fluid stop. Lewis Rd. will lead them back to a right turn again onto 611 finding Buck’s Place and fluid stop #4, hopefully some good music and spectators cheering! After that it’s straight to Assateague Island. The course will pass on last fluid stop, across the Verrazano pedestrian bridge, around a corner onto Campground Rd. to the finish line!

5K COURSE MAP DESCRIPTIONThis year’s 5K race will start at 7:30am at the OC inlet parking lot, same location as the half marathon start. It will circle the parking lot, around the carnival pier, up onto the boardwalk heading north to a designated turnaround point, approximately 13th street. After turn around, runners will head back to inlet parking area where they will cross finish line. Remember all runners, family members and friends are welcome to attend the awards ceremony and post race festivities at the Francis Scott Key Motel!
